How the Magic is Done
the warper
1. The yarn is placed around the warper to get the exact measurement of of the desired textile piece.
tightening threads
2. The threads are tightened through the “jillote” or horizontal wooden pole, tighting it up from a tree to the artisan ́s waist.
The wooden spool
3. The yarn weft is rolled on a wooden spool. These weft threads will pass through the warp to create the weave.
The machete
4. Through the weaving process, a “Machete” is used to lower the fabric and tight it up until it is finally done.
The Weave
5. The Artisan creates the fabric weaving thread by thread , color by color, in which her unmeasurable talent and patience are required to bring a final piece of textile art with great quality, full of tradition, cultural value and color.
